Six Steps to a WHEDA Loan

Buying a home is one of the biggest, most exciting decisions you’ll ever make. Let WHEDA guide you toward your future home.

Have your finances in order before contacting a WHEDA participating lender before applying for a WHEDA loan.  If you need help with this first step, a home buyer counseling agency is a great resource.

How you have paid your debts is an important indicator to lenders of how you will repay your loan. If you have credit problems, or feel you need help managing your budget to prepare for home ownership, you may want to contact a credit counseling agency.

These agencies are primarily community-based nonprofit groups that specialize in pre- and post-purchase home owner education and credit counseling. They will work with you to develop a plan to repair your credit, and help you start a savings plan for the down payment, provide home buyer education and help you get ready to purchase your home.
